Decide It. Do It.

Twitter - A one month trial

Monday, April 7, 2008

Signed up for twitter this month. Hearing about it on various blogs and wondering if I could benefit from it. Not sure where it will lead but going to stick with it for April before deciding if I'll continue. I'd love to hear others experiences with using it - what for, benefits for productivity, downsides etc??

I started to use twitter for microblogging. I took the saying that twitter is "what happens between blog posts" literally, and by adding a widget to my blog's sidebar, I could add 140 micro-posts in a very casual manner.

I am starting to see and use the social networking aspects, although in a pretty minimal sense. I think of this use as a kind of "asynchronous" instant messaging.

@brick:

I have visited your site on numerous occasions (although I usually read your RSS) and have never noticed the twitter widget before. This is a great example of banner blindness isn't it http://www.useit.com/alertbox/banner-blindness.html

I think I'll just follow you on twitter instead

Signed up recently, enjoying Twitter so far. It's so much more accessible than Facebook, Myspace etc. If you do one social networking site I'd suggest Twitter

I've had Twitter for a while, but just discovered "tracking". You can track keywords and you'll get tweets whenever they pop-up.

I track my home city and interests.

Last Friday I tweeted something about "Starflyer 59" and got a response from another fan.

You might want to "track overheard" and "track qotd" (quote of the day)
These are pretty funny...the "overheard" one has a lot of traffic, so I "untrack" it when it gets too busy.
